General Motors has officially detonated a horsepower bomb over the global supercar landscape. The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette C8 ZR1 produces an astronomical 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque straight from the Bowling Green factory floor—with zero electric hybrid assist.
The LT7 Engine: The Most Powerful V8 Ever from an American Automaker
At the core of the ZR1 beats the brand new 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged DOHC flat-plane crankshaft LT7 V8.
Derived from the naturally aspirated Z06 LT6 architecture, Chevrolet engineers fortified the engine with:
- Dual 76-millimeter ball-bearing turbochargers integrated with custom ceramic exhaust manifolds.
- Secondary port fuel injection to feed the engine over 2 gallons of fuel per minute at wide-open throttle.
- A flat-plane crank that screams all the way to an exhilarating 8,000 RPM redline.
Corvette ZR1 Highlights:
- Engine: 5.5L Twin-Turbo Flat-Plane V8 (LT7)
- Peak Output: 1,064 Horsepower / 828 lb-ft Torque
- Redline: 8,000 RPM
- Top Speed: 215+ MPH
- Quarter Mile: Sub-9.7 Seconds @ 150+ MPH
- ZTK Track Pack Aero: Over 1,200 lbs of downforce at top speed
The Return of the Split Window
Paying direct tribute to the legendary 1963 Corvette Sting Ray, the new ZR1 features a functional carbon-fiber split rear window spine that extracts blistering heat from the engine bay while paying homage to the most revered design cue in Corvette heritage.
With hypercar performance at a fraction of the cost of a Bugatti or Koenigsegg, the Corvette ZR1 firmly puts America at the top of the global performance podium.
